Rice Krispie Treat (Albino) Pumpkins
Did you hear the news??? Orange pumpkins are OUT and albino pumpkins are SO IN! Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself after I ran out of food coloring to make these pumpkin rice krispie treats for Big Brother’s preschool class! I first saw them on Pinterest and instantly fell in love. I would much rather have a rice krispie treat than almost any other type of treat…I love ’em!
Here’s the “recipe”. It makes 12 pumpkins.
1 bag marshmallows (or 4 cups mini-marshmallows)
3 Tablespoons butter
6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
Orange food coloring (or mix red and yellow…just make sure you have enough red like I didn’t)
Tootsie Rolls
Put the mallows and butter into a microwave-safe bowl. Nuk it for 3 minutes, but stir after it’s been in there for 2 minutes.
Tame the puffiness by stirring…then add your food coloring. When you think it’s orange enough, add a little bit more! This is where I ran out of food coloring…
Quickly mix the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal in. Mix well. If you need to, add a little bit more orange food coloring. I didn’t get any pictures of this because I was simultaneously burning my potato soup that I had on the stove. And when I say “burn”, I mean burn it past the point of being edible where it makes the whole house stink for a good 36 hours. Multi-tasking is obviously my gift…
Spray some cooking spray on your hands and on your storage container. Form the Rice Krispie mixture into balls about the size of your fist and set in the container. Stick a tootsie roll in for the stump.
Oh, what a FUN idea! I’m definitely going to add these to our Thanksgiving table this year! Thanks!
Love it!
Love this! You could also do apples or snow balls (no tootsie roll, add coconut). Lots of possibilities.
