The "I thought my husband was crazy, but it really is addicting" Dip

There comes a time in every marriage where you are slightly disgusted with your spouse. In fact, I used the bathroom at the restaurant on our resort for the entire length of our honeymoon to avoid such a time.

The “time” came for me shortly after we were married and Prince Charming was in the kitchen. He was combining a package of tuna and an 8 oz. block of cream cheese (until thoroughly mixed). I wondered what he was doing when he then got the Cheez-Its from the cabinet and started dipping the Cheez-Its in the tuna/cream cheese mixture. Blech. Gag me.

He pestered me to try it and after multiple instances of refusing,  I finally gave in. At first, I wasn’t crazy about it. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I had imagined BUT it still wasn’t that great. Then something happened…I started liking it!

Now, 7 years later…we fight over the dip. He won and his dip doesn’t disgust me anymore. The end.

  1. Ok…I'm not gonna lie…I kinda think it sounds good! :)

My husband and I had a moment like this as well! One day he decided he wanted strawberry shortcake…except instead of angel food cake…he wanted to use Jiffy bread. AND. Instead of whipped cream…he wanted to use heavy whipping cream.

At first I was like, "Whatever dude…". But now I'm the same way you are with your hubby's creation! I LOVE it! I think I like it more than conventional strawberry shortcake, to be honest! We actually had it last night with a couple of friends…they both it gave an enthusiastic two thumbs up! :)

I tell 'ya…sometimes we just don't give these boys enough credit, do we?! :)

  2. I love anything with cream cheese! That does sound addicting, indeed.

    My grandpa's dip is similar.
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese
    1 can deviled ham
    2 T milk
1 T dried onions (I'm not a fan of onions, but my family usually puts in a half or an entire diced onion)
chopped black and/or green olives (to taste)

    1. My grandma works for a Head Start program and told me that instead of mayo or Miracle Whip, they mix their tuna with cream cheese for tuna fish sandwiches.

  3. I dip hot bbq potato chips in plain yogurt. My husband tried it and said he wasn't as disgusted as he thought he would be, but he isn't fighting for it either!

  4. Jenae, I quickly read your post, then went on to other things. Then snack time rolled around, and what sounded best to this pregnant woman? Tuna and cream cheese, of course! :) Thanks for the tip!

  5. It is amazing! The cheez its are what bring it all together. Sometime our mom’s aren’t crazy. I have a feeling my kids will pass this reciepe along. They love it too!
