Before Dinner Fine Motor Practice

I was attempting to prepare dinner tonight and needed something to occupy Big Brother. I gave him our toothpick holder, dumped out the toothpicks and let him get started putting the toothpicks back in through the tiny hole at the top.

This was great. Not only was it great fine motor practice, it kept him busy for at least 15 minutes…and I was able to have dinner ready by the time Prince Charming got home!

  1. This is a great idea! I have a website/blog http://www.TheMotorStory.com discussing the sensory motor benefits of many activities, like cooking tasks.
This one really challenges the pincer grasp while requiring visual attention as well. AND your son is adorable!
