Gross-Motor Action Dice

Do you need an activity that will get the kids up and moving? Is the cold winter weather making you want to hide under the blankets and hibernate until the spring thaw? These gross-motor action dice are great for getting your blood pumping and are a great boredom buster for long (cold!) winter days! We had so much fun with these action dice and I’m sure that you and your kids will too!

 

 

What you need:

Paper

Scissors 

Tape

Kids who want to have fun!

Cut out the dice and fold the tabs to create the action dice. I find it helpful to tape a few tabs on the inside and then tape all of the outside edges to make the dice more durable. And don’t worry, if the kids happen to get too rowdy with them, they are easy to print again.

 

 

These are actions that kids naturally love doing, so I know that they will definitely want to get involved when you start rolling the dice!

 

My daughter saw me making them and immediately stole them out of my hands so that she could play with them!

 

 

One of the dice has actions and the other dice has numbers to the kids how many times to do an action.

Hop- 2 times

Skip-9 times

Stomp- 5 times

and so on.

 

 

You’ll notice that the action words are simple and easy to read, so you can let your kindergarteners and early readers read the dice independently. I love activities that build independence!

 

 

It’s okay to get silly too! After 10 spins, I’m definitely feeling silly… Okay, more like after 2 spins!
